French student visa refused: appeal from Dakar

Étudiant souriant dans une bibliothèque universitaire

You have been admitted to a school or university in France, you went through the Campus France procedure, and the French consulate in Dakar refused your student visa? This refusal can be challenged, provided you act fast so as not to miss the start of the academic year.

The most frequent grounds for refusal

Act before the academic year starts

Time works against the student: a procedure that is too slow means losing the enrolment. The appeal must be filed immediately, and an urgent application (référé) before the administrative court can be considered when the start of the year is near.

How to challenge the refusal

  1. Appeal to the CRRV within 30 days of notification of the refusal. This appeal is mandatory before any court action.
  2. Action before the Administrative Court of Nantes if the CRRV rejects the appeal or does not reply, together with an urgent application where needed.
