Legal Field Avocats, in Dakar, assists couples with their divorce in Senegal: Senegalese couples, foreign nationals and expatriates living in Senegal, Franco-Senegalese couples. In France, FB AVOCAT, our correspondent law firm, acts before the French courts.
Your situation
- You are a foreign national or an expatriate living in Senegal: competent court, applicable law, recognition in your country.
- You are a Franco-Senegalese couple: French or Senegalese court, parallel proceedings, recognition of judgments.
- You both agree to divorce: divorce by mutual consent before the president of the tribunal d’instance.
The two routes to divorce in Senegal
- Divorce by mutual consent: the spouses agree on the separation, the property and the children; the judge checks the agreement and records the divorce.
- Contested divorce: one spouse applies to the court on one of the grounds listed in article 166 of the Family Code (desertion, ill-treatment, failure to maintain, incompatibility, etc.). A conciliation attempt precedes the judgment.
Judicial separation also allows the spouses to end their life together without dissolving the marriage.
Children, maintenance and property
Child custody, visiting rights, maintenance, division of property in Senegal and abroad: we defend your interests and those of your children, favouring agreement whenever possible.
